All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************ BROWN, GLADYS ZULA (26 Oct 1928, The Carter Express, Carter, Beckham Co, OK): Mrs. Lowell Brown died at her home in Carter last Friday, October 19, after an illness of several days. She had been seriously ill for some time but everyone was hopeful for her recovery. She had the best of care and nursing and was carefully watched over by loved ones until death relieved her sufferings. The funeral services were held at the Methodist Church Sunday morning. Rev. G. W. Graham, a close friend of the family, made a comforting and appropriate talk. Interment was made at Leon, Oklahoma, by the side of her father. Mrs. Brown leaves a devoted husband and two children, Martha Elizabeth and a baby girl of 15 months, who are broken hearted over the loss of their loved one. A mother, brothers, sister and other relatives also survive her. (2 Nov 1928, The Carter Express, Carter, Beckham Co, OK): Gladys Zula Wooldridge, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Wooldridge, was born at Leon, Oklahoma, December 12, 1896. She moved with her parents to Ardmore in 1908, and in 1909 she accepted Christ as her Savior. She was united in marriage to Lowell Brown of Comanche, Oklahoma, May 4, 1918. To this union were born two daughters, Martha Elizabeth and Joyce Clotele. Mrs. Brown had been preceded in death by her father, J. H. Wooldridge, four brothers, John, Arthur, Theodore and an infant, and two sisters, Shuford and Maud. Mr. and Mrs. Brown moved to Carter, December 18, 1927, where they have lived among a host of very dear friends until the time of her death. Mrs. Brown departed this life and went home October 19, 1928, at the age of 31 years, 9 months and 26 days. She leaves to mourn her going her husband, Lowell Brown, her two daughters, Martha Elizabeth and Joyce Clotele, her mother, Mrs. M. E. Wooldridge, two brothers, Hall Wooldridge of McQueen and Robert Wooldridge of Leon, Oklahoma, two sisters, Mrs. Earl Harris of Leon and Mrs. D. M. Curb of Shattuck, nieces and nephews and a host of devoted friends. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Sunday, October 21, by Rev. G. W. Graham, after which her body was shipped to Leon for burial in the Leon Cemetery.
