CARTER, WILLIAM ORAN
(24 Nov 1916, The Carter Express, Carter, Beckham Co, OK):
BABY DIES.
Oran, the two year old child of Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Carter, residing in the
country 2 1-2 miles east of Carter, died on Monday night of this week
after a long illness.  The little one had been suffering for more than a
year with what was first thought to be eczema, but which was later on
pronounced by physicians to be palagra, and although everything that could
be done by medical skill and careful nursing was done to stay the disease,
it continued getting worse until death came and ended its suffering.
The remains were laid to rest in the Poarch cemetery Wednesday.
The Express joins the many friends of the parents in extending to them our
sympathy in their sorrow over the affliction and death of their only
child.
Obituary.
On Monday night, Nov 20th, at 10:30, the death angel visited the home of
Will and Delia Carter and took from their loving embrace their darling
babe, William Oran, age 2 years, 4 months and 24 days.  When about a year
old he took palagra which was thought to be eczema until a short time
before his death.  How much the little one suffered we will never know
until the little spirit took its flight for a better world where its
sufferings will be no more.
Little Oran was indeed a bright and sweet child and heaven seems dearer
since we know that he is living there.  Dear parents we know your home is
lonely and sad and its little place is vacant; you miss its sweet kisses
and smiles but remember, your loss is heavens gain and your darling is
safe with Jesus.  Oran can never come to you but you can go to him.
