COOKSEY, H. C.
(24 Dec 1926, The Carter Express, Carter, Beckham Co, OK):
Mr. H. C. Cooksey, one of the most prominent farmer citizens of this part
of the country, died at his home in the Poarch community on Friday night
of last week.
Mr. Cooksey had been in real bad health for a long time and had tried
different physicians and their treatments in the hopes of winning back his
failing health but nothing seemed to give him any permanent improvement.
Mr. Cooksey was a popular and influential citizen and in addition to the
great loss that his family sustained in his passing away, the community in
which he lived and the country at large, has lost a very valuable and
useful citizen in his death.
The remains were laid to rest in the Carter cemetery Sunday afternoon, a
large crowd of relatives and friends being present on the sad occasion.
The Express extends to the heart broken wife and children our since
sympathy in the loss of their dear loved one.
