EAST, IVA
(The Carter Express, Carter, Beckham, Ok, 28 Jan 1916)
Claimed by Death.
The people of Carter and surrounding country were severely grieved Monday
afternoon when they heard that Iva East was dead.  She had been operated
on for appendicitis on Thursday of last week at the home of her parents,
Mr. And Mrs. I. N. East, who reside two and a half miles northeast of
Carter.  It was generally understood among her friends that the operation
was successful and that she was getting along all right.  But she taken
worse and passed away about 3 o'clock Monday afternoon.  She was 17 years
of age.
The remains were laid to rest in the Carter cemetery at 2 o'clock Tuesday
afternoon, the funeral services being conducted by Rev. McIntyre.
The Express joins the many friends of the deceased in extending to the
grief stricken family our sympathy.
