(20 Feb 1925, The Carter Express, Carter, Beckham Co, OK): Miss Clara Folks, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Folks of Carter, died at their home here early Tuesday morning. Clara was born on Jan. 31st, 1908 and died Feb. 17th, 1925, being a little past 17 years old. She was a sweet, lovable little girl, one who had always been as a delicate flower, having been afflicted since birth with a weak heart, but despite this fact she had always been a good student and never missed her class at school or Sunday school when it was so she could go. She took a great interest in her work and was a Junior in the Carter school at the time of her death. The funeral services were held at the Methodist church on Tuesday afternoon by Rev. Carson, pastor of the church. The church was filled to overflowing, there being about as many on the outside of the building as on the inside. The floral offerings were many and very beautiful. School was dismissed and the teachers and pupils attended the funeral services in a body. The pall bearers were six boys chosen from the Epworth League of which Clara was a member. Clara will be sadly missed by the people of Carter, by her teachers and the pupils of the school, and the Sunday school which she attended, for she and her sweet, quiet way was loved by all who knew her; but she will be missed most by her mother and father, who have watched over her so tenderly, by her brother Cecil and her little sister Geraldine. To these her nearest relatives, we, with the people of Carter and vicinity extend our deepest sympathy in their time of sorrow. Interment was made in the Carter cemetery, a large crowd following the remains to their last resting place. (24 Feb 1925, Elk City News Democrat, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): DEATH OF CLARA FOLKS.
