T. Henson, age 14 years, 8 months and 5 days, died at an Elk City hospital on last Friday, June 22, after an illness of seven weeks. Dorothy was taken suddenly ill while at school and was taken to the hospital and underwent an operation on the day following and although her condition was very critical from the beginning of her illness, for a few days she seemed better, and everyone was very hopeful for her recovery. She had the best of care and nursing and was carefully watched over by loved ones, and although she had a strong constitution and fought a brave battle for seven long weeks, she continued to grow worse till death relieved her sufferings. Dorothy was a beautiful girl and possessed a sweet disposition. She was loved by all who knew her and will be sadly missed by relatives and friends. The funeral services were held at the Methodist Church Sunday, Rev. A. B. Carson, former pastor of the church here and an old friend and neighbor of the Henson family, preached the funeral and made a comforting and appropriate talk. The pall bearers were friends of Mr. Henson, while the floral offering which were beautiful were borne by school mates and chums of Dorothy. One of the largest crowds ever assembled at a funeral here were in attendance. Dorothy leaves her father, Mr. K. T. Henson, three sisters, Marie, Gertrude and Amy Beth, two brothers, Earnest and Junior, and a devoted step-mother and a large number of other relatives who are broken hearted to have their loved one, so full of promise for a bright future, taken from them so suddenly. Interment was made in the Carter cemetery by the side of her mother who died when Dorothy was quite small. Card of Thanks. We take this method of expressing to all of our many friends and neighbors our sincere thanks for their kind assistance and help and every expression of sympathy shown us during the illness and death of our darling Dorothy.
