JONES, LESLIE J.
(9 Sep 1927, The Carter Express, Carter, Beckham Co, OK):
The citizens of Carter, as well as the citizens of the Highway and other
communities, were grieved early Tuesday morning when they heard that Mr.
Less Jones of Highway had died about midnight Monday night.
Mr. Jones had only been ill a few days and his condition had become so
serious on Monday night it was decided to carry him to an Elk City
hospital but he passed away before reaching the hospital.
We understand that an attack of the flu settling in his liver was the
fatal malady that caused his death.
Mr. Jones was one of Highway's most prominent citizens and he will be
sadly missed by his family and other relatives as a devoted loved one and
he will be missed by the community on account of his worthy social
activities in both church and school work in his neighborhood.
The remains were interred in Elk City cemetery Wednesday afternoon.
