All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ********************************************************************* JONES, MARGARET EMILY (25 Feb 1921, The Carter Express, Carter, Beckham Co, OK): The children of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Jones, residing here, received a telegram Monday from Christine, Texas, with the sad information that Mrs. Jones had died of paralysis that morning at Christine. Mrs. Jones had gone to southern Texas with her husband and Sam Simpson and wife some time ago in hopes of the warm, southern climate being beneficial to the health of both women. Two of her children, Mrs. J. D. Carter and Mrs. Ralph VanBuren left here Sunday for Christine, after learning that their mother was very low. The remains were shipped back here for burial in the Poarch cemetery, arriving here Thursday afternoon. (4 Mar 1921, The Carter Express, Carter, Beckham Co, OK): The funeral services of Mrs. A. Jones will be held at the Zion Chapel Friday, Feb. 25th, at 1 p.m. Rev. John Stanfield of Chico, Texas, an old friend of the deceased and family, arrived Thursday and will have charge of the funeral services. Margaret Emily Jones, (nee Glasgow) departed this life at Christine, Texas, Feb. 21, 1921, at 7:30 o'clock p.m., in her 60th year. She was born in Obion Co., Tenn., Aug. 7th, 1861; married to Alex Jones in 1879. To this union 10 children were born. She is survived by her husband, 8 children and 25 grandchildren. She was converted in her teens and united with the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Was sanctified in a camp meeting at Sunset, Texas, in August, 1898. Came to Texas with her husband in 1884, and located near Chico, Wise Co., where they lived until Dec., 1898, when they moved to Oklahoma, locating near old Poarch. After coming to Okla. she united with the Free Methodist Church, of which she was a member at her departure. Sister Jones' health was run down, and she with her husband had gone to Christine, Tex., for her health where she was stricken with paralysis, and after a few days of suffering she was transferred to her home in Heaven. Her remains were shipped back to Oklahoma for burial.
