T. Knight, who was operated upon at Elk City last Thursday about 11 o'clock and brought home on the afternoon train, died about 6 p.m. The operation was a simple one, in removing his Tonsils and the Adenoids, but his system was so run down it could not stand the shock, hence his little spirit left the body about 6 p.m. A host of loving friends gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Knight and did all they could to help save the life of the little one and to care for the grief stricken mother who was delirious over the thought of losing her only child. The body was embalmed and Friday afternoon the remains were laid to rest in the Carter cemetery after appropriate funeral services conducted by Rev. McDonald at the graveyard. The Pall Bearers were Chas. W. Crooks, Ed Kesler, J. E. Foster and Dr. J. N. Denby. A large concourse of loving friends in buggies, wagons, hacks and automobiles followed the remains to the cemetery. The sympathies of the entire community go out to Mr. and Mrs. Knight in this their darkest hours of affliction, and they are reminded to place their trust in Him who doeth all things well. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
