(17 Feb 1922, The Carter Express, Carter, Beckham Co, OK): Jim Nichols, residing in the Retrop community eight miles southeast of Carter, died about 3 o'clock Wednesday morning, after a long and serious illness, with stomach trouble. Mr. Nichols had been sick for many months, having been taken ill while living out in Arizona. But he got better and returned to this part of the country, and after coming back here he would get much better seemingly for a while then would get worse again. He was formerly a resident of Carter, having been engaged in the confectionery and grocery business while living here. He was a very prominent citizen and he and family made many friends during their stay here.
