(15 Jan 1926, The Carter Express, Carter, Beckham Co, OK): Mr. C. T. Poarch, best known to our citizens as Uncle Charley Poarch, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. H. Love, at Elk City, on Jan. 11, 1926. Mr. Poarch was born on Jan. 20, 1833, being almost 93 years of age at the time of his death. He was married to Amanda Davis, January 12, 1857, who died on Jan. 11, 1910. Uncle Charley was a Confederate Soldier during the Civil War. He was an 89'er and a pioneer in Western Oklahoma. He leaves 5 children, 49 grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren. Interment was made in the Poarch cemetery on Monday afternoon, Rev. A. B. Carson of Carter conducting the service. A large crowd was present. Poarch was born in Tennessee January 20, 1833 and died January 11, 1926, at the age of 92 years, 11 months and 21 days. He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. H. Love on W. Second Street, Elk City. C. T. Poarch was married to Miss Amanda P. Davis January 12, 1857 in Marshall county, Tennessee. To this union were born eight children, five of whom were living at the time of their father's death. Mrs. Poarch passed away, Jan 11, 1910, at their home near Carter. He and his wife came to Oklahoma in 1889 and lived in Beckham county since 1900. He joined the Methodist church at the age of 14 years to which he was a faithful member until the time of his death. He always attended services as long as he was able and was very active in church work. He was very fond of children and they always loved him. At the time of his death he had 49 grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Poarch cemetery by Rev. Carson the Methodist minister of Carter. The body was laid to rest in the Poarch cemetery. He leaves to mourn his going his five children, Mrs. J. H. Love, of Elk City, James E. Poarch and W. D. Poarch of Sayre, John F. Poarch of Riverside, California, and Kerby Poarch of Weatherford, Okla., grand children and great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. His children were all present at the time of his death with the exception of one son John F.
