As stated above, Oscar has been in bad health for a number of years, and a year or so ago he underwent an operation for the removal of a stone in his bladder, but even after this operation his health did not improve. So after being treated by one physician after another without relief he moved to southern Texas in the hopes of regaining his health. But continuing to get worse he came back to this county. After remaining here a while he went with his wife to Hot Springs, Ark., and staid for some time but returned without improvement. So again he was advised to undergo another operation, so he went to Clinton and was operated on the second time, and from that time up to the time of his death he was in a critical condition. About ten days ago, however, it was thought that he had begun to make improvement but this did not last. When the end came it is said that he passed away very easy. Everyone certainly has a good word to speak for his devoted young wife who cared for him so tenderly week after week and month after month, in order that he might again regain his health and strength. His father and mother also as well as his sisters and brothers, rendered all the aid that could be rendered to enable him to do what could be done in getting back his health. The remains were buried at the Carter cemetery Monday afternoon, the funeral services being conducted at the Methodist Church here by Rev. Shelton, pastor of the church. The Express joins the many friends of the deceased in extending our sincere sympathy to the true and devoted young wife, and the parents and other relatives in their bereavement. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
