(25 Jan 1918, Carter Express, Carter, Beckham Co, OK): The people of Carter and surrounding country were shocked when the news spread that Judge W. R. (sic) Trimble had died suddenly of heart failure, he having passed away about 6:30 o'clock, Monday evening. Mr. Trimble had been up town three different times during the day and was seemingly able to get around much better than he had since getting up from the last attack of lagrippe several days ago. After going in home for the night he went out and brought in a bucket of water and sat down by the fire to warm when he was suddenly seized with an attack of heart failure, falling over in his chair. Mrs. Trimble succeeded in getting him back in his chair and called for help. He only lived a few minutes though after he was taken ill. The deceased had been in rather poor health for some time. He sold his farm in the fall and moved to town, the condition of his health preventing him from being able to look after the farm. As stated above he had suffered an attack of lagrippe some time back but had recovered from this and was able to get around tolerable well with the aid of a cane. Mr. Timble had held the position of Justice of the Peace here for several years in the past, and was well known throughout this part of the country. We extend our sincere sympathy to the grief stricken wife and other relatives. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
