N. Waldrop, of Carter died at their home Tuesday at 1:10 o'clock after an illness of 14 weeks. Anna Lee was born the 26th of December 1914 and died August 12th, 1930, being nearly 16 years old. She was a sweet, lovable little girl, who was always very devoted to her home and parents, and an inspiration to all who knew her. She was very energetic in her class in both school and Sunday School, holding special attendance records for several years. She was a Sophomore in the Carter School at the time of her death. Anna Lee will be sadly missed by the people of Carter by her teachers and the pupils of the school and the Sunday School which she attended for she, in her quite (sic) sweet way was loved by them all. The funeral services were held at the Church of Christ on Wednesday morning by C. E. McGaughey, pastor of the Church of Christ at Elk City. The church was filled to overflowing, there being more on the outside of the building than inside. The floral offerings were many and very beautiful. The High School was dismissed and the teachers and pupils attended in a body. The Pall Bearers were six boys chosen from the Sophomore class. There remains to mourn her loss, her mother and father, who have watched over her so tenderly, her five brothers, Oscar, of Los Angeles, California; Claudie, of Carter; Frank of Guymon, Oklahoma; Willie of Spearman, Texas; and Floyd of Carter and two sisters, Verna May and Jewel. To these, her dearest relatives, we, with the people of Carter and vicinity extend our deepest sympathy in this their time of sorrow. Interment was made in the Poarch cemetery, a large crowd following the remains to their last resting place. --------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
