Notes James Luther DALTON born June 4, 1894 near KeoKuk Falls,Pottawatomic County,Oklahoma .Died Oct 8,1951 Littlefield ,Lamb County ,Texas.Interment Carter Cemetery -Carter Beckham County,Oklahoma** Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon ,October 10th,at First Baptist church at Carter,Oklahoma,for J.L."Luther"DALTON,Sr. Littlefield cotton ginner,A resident of Littlefield since 1935,Mr.DALTON had been in ill health since he was injured in a Hart gin 11 months ago.Deceased was born June 4th,1894.Funeral services were conducted by Rev.J.E.OSBORN,Glenrose,Texas,assisted by Rev.J.V.PACE,Morton and the pastor of the Baptist church at Carter Rev.Cecil STUBBS.Survivors include the widow,Mrs.Roma (HOLMAN)DALTON,and three sons,Loy,Littlefield;Ray,Duncan,Oklahoma and J.L.Jr.,U.S.M.C. of Bremerton,Washington,and three daughters,Mrs.Lavine LANKFORD,Wichita,Falls,TX.Mrs.Amy E.CHASTAIN,Lubbock,TX.and Mrs.Etta Mae DUFFY,Littlefield.Out of town friends and relatives included Mrs.Edd WEBB,Graham,TX.;Mrs.C.L.HUNN,Wichita Falls,TX.,and Mrs.W.F.MAXEY,Elk City,Oklahoma,all sisters of the deceased.Others were Mrs.Betty SANDERSON,Mr.and Mrs.Vernon STEAD,and Mr.and Mrs.Charles SMITH,all of Littlefield,and Mr.and Mrs.M.B.ROWELL,Hale Center;Sgt.MiltanTHOMAS and Lt.Butler ANDERSON,both of Sheppard Air Force Base,Wichita Falls,and Mrs.J.V.PACE,Morton.Hammom Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.********** CARD OF THANKS-May we take this means of expressing our heartfelt thanks to the many who were so kind and gracious to us in our great sorrow.We especially wish to thank those who brought and served the food-to those who contributed to the lovely floral pieces-to the doctors at the Payne-Shotwell Foundation-and to Pryor Hammons,sr.,at Hammons Funeral Home,and to our neighbors.We will never forget your kindness-and may God Bless you always.Mrs.J.L.DALTON,sr.,and children.
