WILLIS3 DALTON (ASA2, WILLIAM1) was born February 1845 in Arkansas, and died November 09, 1916 in Elk City,Beckham CO.,Oklahoma. He married ELIZABETH GLADWALL. Notes DEATH OF WILLIS J. DALTON-born February 1845 -died November 9,1916 *******W.J.DALTON died November 9th at his home nine miles south of Elk City .He had been a sufferer from dropsy.Deceased was aged 42 years and 9 months. Funeral services were held on Friday and interment made in the Fairlawn cemetery . Beckham County,Oklahoma (Newspaper November 16,1916. ******** IN MEMORY OF WILLIS J.DALTON The neighborhood was sadden last Wednesday noon,at 12:30 by the death of Father DALTON,one of our most loved and respected citizens.He had been very well althrough the years of age and had tended his farm until a week or so before his death.He was a pioneer of Oklahoma ,having come here in 189? With his wife and two daughters.He moved to his homestead three miles east of where Elk City now stand.With a vim/they began to build the now beautiful home on the land where then the coyote and buffalo roamed.With this same vim are energy was his entire life endowed.He was a confederate soldier and member of that Lodge.His comrades directed the cemetery service .His disposition was kind and loving and his friends were numbered by his acquaintances and each of them had a kind word to speak of him.The choicest thing to be said of Father DALTON is that he was a devoted christain and although the warm weather was trying,he and his patent wife,their heads bowed and silvered with the frosts of man winters,were to be seen at the place in Sunday School most every Sunday. *******************Dear Father we loved thee dearly,Thy tender touch and love- The way in which you led us- Is the way to your home above; With you tenderly watching o'er us- As you've watched in times of ?- We cannot leave the pathway -You've told us of before-So we'll just live on doing -What good we can down here- Until the time of coming -Is ripe to join you there-Dear companion,you and wife-Tho it be grief or gladness-Have rifted down the stream of life-Dispelling all the sadness-In the tender love that bound-Their hearts and lives together -In one anothers council found -That union worked for better -That golden cord is broken-Mrs.Willis DALTON ,wife of deceased,Mrs.Una PENN, daughter,Mrs.Etta COOK,daughter,Jack DALTON brother.
