The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net/ *********************************************************************** Edward T.DUKE b.1858 d.10 Nov 1935 burial Carter cemetery * Carter,Beckham county,Oklahoma E.T.DUKE Rites Are Held Wednesday Afternoon At Carter Lived In Houston Funeral services were held for E.T.DUKE,Houston,Texas,former Beckham county resident,Wednesday afternoon at Carter.Rev.C.A.BRASWELL,pastor of the First Baptist Church there,conducted the services.Funeral services also were held the Cettegastk off chapel in Houston,Texas,Tuesday. Mr.DUKE filed on a claim three miles west of Carter in 1898 and was owner of a hog ranch and farm at Doxey until 1910 when he moved to Houston,Texas. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Mr.DUKE died Sunday,November 10.His body arrived in Carter Wednesday morning and lay in state at the Baptist Church at Carter until the services. Survivors are his widow,Mrs.E.T.DUKE;four daughters,Mrs.R.L.RUSH,of Houston,Mrs.R.N.WHITAKER,Houston,Mrs.Donald E.HUFF of Roanoke,Va.,Mrs.Clemmie Loyd of Roanoke,Va.,two sons,A.R.and E.C.,both of Houston;eight grandchildren;and six great grandchildren.
