Beckham Co. OK - Samuel T. Flowers Submitted by Carol Clifton Lynds Samuel T. Flowers obituary We, of Walnut Valley Primitive Baptist Church at Blanchard, OK are sad and lonely because the Lord has taken away our beloved pastor and father in Israel, Elder Samuel FLOWERS. ...He was born April 25, 1891 to William Franklin and Didamie Hayes Flowers at Scottsboro, AL. He died October 24, 1973 at the age of 82 years. He moved with his parents to Texas at the age of 5 and when he was 7, his parents homesteaded in Old Greer County, OT, near what later became Erick, Beckham Co, OK. He was the author of a book, "A Bunch of Flowers" that describes early like in OK when most people lived and reared their families on the farms and a man's word was a good as his note and life was more simple. In 1910 he married Anna Myrtle Morgan and they had 10 children (4 girls and 6 boys). One daughter Edith preceded him in death. His survivors are his wife, Myrtle, and daughter Lela of the home, and two other daughters, Elsie Dugger and Annalou Clifton. His six sons are H.T. (Tink), Erick; Joe, Frank, Arlie, Paul and S.T. All six sons were pallbearers. Mr. Flowers also had 24 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, two brothers: Jim and Bill; two sisters Tullie Turner and Tabbie Turner.
