B. 31 Jan 1873 D. 4 Nov 1930 Merritt Cemetery Beckham Co OK Funeral services for C. P. Fitz- gerald, 37, pioneer farmer who died at this residence here early to- day will be held Wednesday ar- ternoon at the Presbyterian church at Merritt. Rev. Rollie Reed, pas- tor of the church and Rev. A. W. Abbott will officiate. Mr. Fitzgerald succombed at this home at 315 South Adams street. He had been in ill health for about two years and for the past three months had been confined to his home. Although his condition was serious it was not regarded critical by physicians. He arose early this morning and ate breakfast before his death at about seven o'clock. Mr. Fitzgerald came to Oklahoma from Texas in 1899 and homestead- ed on land six miles southwest of the city. He was born January 31, 1873 in Illinois and went to Sher- man Texas, and later come to Elk City. He was married at Denison, Tex., to Miss Maggie Cook Shortly before coming to Oklahoma. Mr. and Mrs. Fitzgerald lived on their farm until about seven months ago when they moved to Elk City. He was an active mem- ber of the Woodman of the World and of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows until his health hin- dered. Mr. Fitgerals is survive by his widow Mrs. Fitzgerald, one sister Mrs. Clark Havenhill, of northwest of the city, one brother, And Fitz- gerald, of Denison, TExas and four neices and nephews. These are Mrs. Joe Donaham, Mrs. Sadie Lu- cas, Mrs. Fleix Wood, and Ray- mond Fitzgerald all of Elk City. The hour for the services has not been announced. Interment will be made int he Merritt cemetery. Kil- lough-Hullum funeral directors are in charge of arrangements. 4 Nov 1930 Elk City Newspaper
