July 1987 buried Carter Cemetery*Beckham County,OK.H/O Lillie Maude (Plew)M.22 Dec.1922 ************************************************************ Funeral services for Josesfies Benton (J.B.)FORD will be conducted Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the MARTIN FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL with Bro.Michael Elrod officiating.Burial will follow in the Carter Cemetery.Mr.FORD was born May 19,1902 in Decatur,Texas,and died early Friday morning in the Community Hospital at the age of 85. He moved with his family from Teaxas to the Carter community in 1904.He attended Kempton and Red Rock schools.On Dec.22,1922 he married Lillie Maude PLEW in Elk City and they began farming just east of Carter where they lived until 1938.From 1938 until 1940 he worked in a feed store and service station in Carter.In 1940 the family moved to California for a short time.They then returned to Carter where he owned and operated a service station.Later they owned a cafe in Carter for some 5 years.In 1952 they moved to Elk City where they have lived since. Mr.FORD is survived by his wife,Lillie,of the home;2 sons,Joe FORD of Oklahoma City and Rex FORD of Elk City; 2 sisters Mrs.Edith KINGSFORD and Mrs.Delia BROWN,both of Elk City;4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren
