The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net/ *********************************************************************** *NOTES*FOSTER,Milton D.* b.11April 1856 (OH)d.5 March 1928 b.Carter Cemetery Beckham County,Oklahoma Son James * (ROBINSON) (PN) H/O Frances ******************************************************************* Mr.M.D.FOSTER,one of our most prominent farmers and a pioneer settler of the Poarch community,died at his home Saturday morning of heart trouble and complications.Mr.FOSTER was taken ill about two weeks prior to his death and medical treatment and careful nursing failed to check the disease with which he was afflicted.Not only the family and other relatives of Mr.FOSTER were grieved to hear of his death for he was a friend to everyone and no citizen in his community had more friends than he and his numerous friends throughout the country were grieved when they learned that he had passed away.Mr.FOSTER was one of the pioneer settlers of the Poarch community,he having homesteaded in 1902,the place where he was living at the time of his death.He and his family have lived on the farm all the time since he first filed on it.Mr.FOSTER was the step-father of Mr.G.C.MITCHEL,Carter business man.He also leaves a step-daughter,Miss Zelphia MITCHEL,besides his devoted wife,to morn his death.He was 72 years old.The funeral services were held on Sunday at the FOSTER home.Rev.ELLIS having charge of the service.Interment was made in the Carter Cemetery,a large crowd of relatives and friends being present.11 May 1928 *The Carter Express* ******************* *******************Milton D.FOSTER born in Ohio April 11,1856.Died May 5,1928.He moved with his family to Beckham County,August 29,1902,and founded a home eight miles south east of Carter where he spent many toilsome days improving his farm and putting forth every effort to make his family comfortable.He loved his home and could most always be found there.Even in his declining years he was zealous in his work,having the interest of his home very much at heart.He was a sturdy,stalwart man and in spite of the hardships of this pioneer life he withstood them all and fought a good fight to the end and came out with a trustworthy character,and with the admiration,of his fellowmen.He leaves to cherish his memory his relatives and a host of friends.Funeral services were conducted by Rev.ELLIS of Retrop after which the remains were laid to rest in the Carter Cemetery *The Carter Express 15 June 1928
