(19 Feb 1944) The Savage Funeral Home just announced the death of Mrs. Mary Jane Algrim who resided southeast of Elk City, with funeral arrangements set for 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 20, from the chapel. No other details were available at this time. (24 Feb 1944) Mary Jane Algrim, daughter of Andrew J. and Betty Jane Darr, was born near Portsmouth, Ohio, November 22, 1871 and passed away at her home near Elk City, Oklahoma, February 18, 1944, at the age of 72 years, 2 months, 27 days. She came by covered wagon from Ohio to Kansas with her parents in 1878. She was united in marriage to Henry Algrim, February 16, 1889, and they moved to Oklahoma in 1897 where she resided ever since. About seven years after moving to Oklahoma she united with the Presbyterian Church of Jet, Oklahoma. Her husband passed away May 27, 1938. She leaves to mourn her loss the following children: Ray Algrim, Miami, Oklahoma; Mrs. Laura Eiel, Elk City; Mrs. Cora Ely, Sayre; Mrs. Edna Jordan, Fairland, Oklahoma; Mrs. Nellie Donahoo, Sayre; and Earl Patrick Algrim, of the home; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, two of the grandsons overseas in service for Uncle Sam; two brothers, Newt Darr, Sylvia, Kansas; Jack Darr, Langdon; and one sister, Mrs. Ella Stanley, Sylvia, Kansas; and other relatives and a host of friends. Two children preceded her in death and a sister, Mrs. Emma Heggy, preceded her in death in 1913.
