N. Arnold was born in Murray county, Tenn., December 12th, 1837 and died in Elk City, May 20, 1923, at the age of 85 years, 7 months and 8 days. He was married to Edna E. Vinson in 1873 and to this union were born six children, two of whom died in infancy. With the exception of C. M. Arnold of Texas, the other children, D. H. Arnold of Strong City, Mrs. B. H. Monroe of Sayre and Mrs. J. D. Taylor of Elk City, were with their father at his death. Mr. Arnold was a pioneer having moved with his family to Oklahoma in April 1892, and was the first Post Master at Cheyenne where he continued to make his home until two years ago when on account of ill health, he with his aged wife, moved to Elk City to be near their daughter, Mrs. J. D. Taylor. Mr. Arnold united with the Christian church at the age of twenty-one and lived a consistent christian life until his death. Although he was unable to attend church and other services on account of ill health, having suffered a paralytic stroke several years ago, he was a conscientious follower of the lovely Nazarene in his daily life. Funeral services were held at the First Christian church, Monday afternoon at four o'clock, conducted by the pastor, C. H. Lemmex and the remains were laid to rest in Fairlawn cemetery. The many beautiful flowers covering the casket attested to the esteem in which the deceased was held.
