She was married Jan. 13, 1897, at Colbert, Okla., to Richard S. Ashley. To this union were born eight children, one infant preceding her in death four years ago. Her husband, three boys and four girls survive her. All were at the bedside when she passed away except her eldest son George, who was accompanying his grandmother to her home in Whitewright, Tex. While visiting her grandson at Eldorado, Okla., his grandmother, being very feeble, fell and crippled herself and they were delayed for several days. Her youngest daughter was staying at the home of her sister, Mrs. Myrtle Monson, who was confined to her bed. Mrs. Ashley was converted at the age of twenty years and lived a Christian life and later joined the United Brethren church in which she was a member when the end came. Funeral services were held Friday at 2:00 o'clock at the First M. E. church by Rev. Trevette. Interment was made in West Fairlawn cemetery, in charge of Mr. Robinson. A large crowd attended the funeral showing the love and respect all had for the deceased. She was a devoted wife and mother. Has a large circle of friends who mourn her death. She had lived in and around Elk City several years and has made wide acquaintance and was a friend to all. Besides her immediate family, she leaves her mother, four sisters and four brothers, all living in Texas. Her father died when she was nine years old.
