Mrs. Joetta Askew, wife of Walter Askew, died at her home 9 miles southeast of Foss at 5:00 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, death being due to pneumonia. She was sick about a week and her condition was serious from the start of her illness. The funeral service was held at North Burns at 3:30 Wednesday and burial was in North Burns cemetery. Before her marriage to Walter Askew in Montague county, Texas, Mrs. Askew was Miss Joetta Stephens and was born in Texas about 50 years ago. She was a member of the Christian church. The deceased leaves to mourn her departure, the husband; six sons, Emmet of Oklahoma City; Will of North Burns community; Ed, Jess, Donald and Glenn all at home; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth Read of Cordell and Mrs. Ira Bocock of Freedom; father, Wiley Stephens of North Burns; two brothers, Will of Dill and James; three sisters, Mrs. Joe Garrett of Butler, Mrs. Arch Leverton of North Burns and Mrs. John Harrill, whose home is in eastern Oklahoma.
