C., on December 28, 1852. With her parents she moved to Princeton, Arkansas where she grew to young womanhood and taught school for several years. On July 24, 1879, at Arkadelphia, Ark., she was married to F. M. Ayres (sic). They moved to Honey Grove, Texas and resided there until the year 1906 when they returned to Arkansas where they resided until 1920. At this time they moved to Elk City, Okla., and for three years made this their home. Later they moved to a farm seven miles southwest of the city, where Mrs. Ayers departed this life on July 3, 1926. To Mr. and Mrs. Ayers were born seven children. Mrs. Ayers was preceded in death by one boy and one girl in infancy, and by two daughters grown to womanhood and married. She is survived by the husband, one daughter, Minnie and two sons, Edgar, of this city and Dale of Boonville, Arkansas. Mrs. Ayers was an unusual woman, one who typified the highest standard of womanhood, one who possessed such sweet refined qualities as to endear her to every acquaintance. She was a Christian woman of the deepest conviction, faithful and staunch in her religion, having been a firm believer in the Baptist creed since the early age of seventeen. While of a very reticent disposition, yet no one came into her presence without noting her forceful personality, without imbibing some of her deep faith, without being influenced to live a purer and better life. She was a woman that time and experience had molded into a noble character, one ever thoughtful of her family and friends first, one of broad intellect, who ever kept abreast of the times and who was on (sic) extensive reader. Her knowledge and interest in history and current events never interfered with her daily study of the Bible. Her cheerful patient attitude, her lingering illness was phenomenal. Not a word of remorse or complaint was uttered. Her smile radiated so much cheer that the ones who came to comfort received a blessing and benediction, though often, no words were spoken. Her life will truly be a beacon, pointing heavenward for the loved ones she has left. So inspiring has been her story here, that each member of her family will doubly strive to emulate it, eager to join her in the life beyond.
