Ballard was born January 1, 1878, near Clarksville, Texas, and died January 20, 1929 (sic) at the age of 51 years and 20 (sic) days. At the early age of sixteen years she was married to W. A. Ballard, November 4, 1884. She was the mother of five children, three of whom are living, the other two having passed over the Great Divide many years ago. Thirty-two years ago, at the age of 19, she obeyed the gospel, and from that time forward she has been a staunch Christian never wavering in her faith in Him to whom she had committed her soul. She was a devoted wife and a loving, sacrificing mother. The last years of her life were spent in very poor health, almost an invalid, during which time she bore much suffering with great patience and fortitude. She leaves her husband, three sons, a mother, six sisters, two brothers and a multitude of friends, all of whom she dearly loved. The highest tribute that can be paid to any one was expressed by her husband, when he said: "Her life has been one of love and sacrifice." Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ Tuesday afternoon with Rev. J. C. Carman officiating. Interment was made in Fairlawn cemetery with Gentry-Killough in charge of arrangements.
