S. Banks was born March 6, 1824*, and died February 12, 1926 at the home of his son in Ft. Worth, Texas after an illness of two weeks. *Cemetery records have born 1842. Mr. Banks lived in Arkansas until the Civil War broke out and he enlisted, served the full four years. He was married to Miss Caroline McCleskey, September 5, 1872 and moved to Blum, Texas where he lived until September 1924 when he moved to Elk City, Oklahoma, where he lost his wife September 3, 1925. The body was shipped back to Hammon, Oklahoma, and buried by the side of his wife. The Masonic Order of which he had been a member for 40 years had charge of the burial. He was converted early in life and united with the Methodist Church and lived a true christian life. He leaves to mourn his loss his children, J. C. Tulsa, Mrs. Lida Smith of Hammon, Mrs. Moore of Elk City, J. L. of Blum, Texas, J. E. of Slayton, Texas and S. D. of Ft. Worth, a sister, Mrs. W. H. Evans of Elk City, one brother, J. W. of Cleburne, Texas, two daughters, Mrs. C. H. Taylor of Hammon and Mrs. T. B. Lester of Cleburne Texas preceded them in death.
