(26 Apr 1928, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Miss Lucelia J. Barthlow. Lucelia J. Barthlow was born in Knox county, Ohio, August 21, 1849, and died at Elk City, Oklahoma, on April 21, 1928, at the age of 78 years and 8 months. At the age of nine years, she moved with her parents to Astoria, Ollinois (sic), where she lived until 1871, when she went to Falls City, Nebraska, where she resided until 1898. In 1900 she came to Newkirk, Oklahoma, later moved to Elk City, where she has lived for 25 years. Miss Barthlow became a Christian at Astoria, Ill., uniting with the Christian church in 1871 and for 57 years she has continued in the Christian faith. She leaves to mourn her death one brother, J. W. Barthlow, of Astoria, Ill.; one sister, Mrs. Alice Grimwood, of Floris, Okla., and several nieces and nephews, C. L. Grimwood and D. W. Grimwood, and her niece, Mrs. Fern Dunlap, of Floris, Okla., were with her and ministered to her with affectionate care during her last illness. Miss Barthlow was known and loved by hundreds of persons in Elk City and community, and by her Christian spirit and kindly attitude, she has scattered sunshine and happiness wherever she has gone. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Carl V. Covey, Pastor of the First Christian Church of Elk City, at 3 o'clock Monday afternoon, April 23, 1928, and interment was made in Fairlawn cemetery, Elk City.
