All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************ BATES, EDNA GRACE (14 Jan 1926, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Edna Grace Curtis was born Feb. 4, 1897 in Oklahoma county and died at Elk City, Oklahoma, Jan. 12, 1926, at the age of 28 years, 11 months and 8 days. She moved with her parents to Foss, Oklahoma, in 1909 and married James W. Bates, December 27, 1914. To this union 4 children were born, two preceded her in death and two living, Vernon age 10 and Velma age 8. She leaves to mourn her going, besides her husband and two children, her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Curtis of Foss, one sister, Mrs. Ed Phelps of Elk City; three brothers, Elmer of Elk City, Walker of San Antonio, Texas and Harry at home. (28 Jan 1926, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Edna Grace Bates, wife of Jim Bates, departed this life January 12, 1926 at the age of 28 years, 11 months and 8 days. She was born February 4, 1897, in Oklahoma City. She was united in marriage to Jas. W. Bates, Dec. 27, 1914, to which union were born four children two of whom have gone before to welcome her in the Great Beyond. She was a loving and faithful mother. To mourn her loss are left a husband and two children, Vernon, age 10 and Velma, age 8; a father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Curtis of Foss; one sister Mrs. Ed Phelps of Elk City; three brothers Elmer of Elk City, Walter of San Antonio, and Harry of Foss, and a number of cousins and other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Jno. C. Carman of Elk City and she was laid to rest in the Edwardsville cemetery. (Washita County, Oklahoma).
