(9 June 1917, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): DEATH OF MRS. BAYLIS. Last Friday word was received here by Mrs. R. D. Cole, that her sister, Mrs. Harry D. Baylis was critically ill in the sanitarium at Arkansas City, Kansas. Mr. and Mrs. Cole left immediately, but she had passed away before they arrived. She had been in the sanitarium two weeks, having undergone an operation, but it was not thought that her condition was serious until the day before her death. She leaves a mother, two sisters, Mrs. R. D. Cole of Elk City, and Miss Ruth Wilmot of Hominy, Kansas, a husband and three small children. It is sad indeed for a young mother only thirty years old, to be taken from her children just when they need a mother's care, but God in His infinite wisdom knows best. Interment was made in a mausoleum at Arkansas City. The hearts of our people go out in deepest sympathy for the bereaved ones. Mr. Cole returned home Sunday night. Mrs. Cole will spend a few weeks with her mother in Hominy, Kansas. (Research: Myrtle D.
