S. BELLAMY DIES. After an illness of several weeks Berry Stone Bellamy died Monday morning from jaundice and flu, aged 70 years, 3 months and 6 days. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Baptist church, Rev. E. D. Hamilton, officiating. The members of the Masonic lodge marched to the house and then to church in body. The pall bearers were Messrs. Henry Hunter, R. A. King, W. E. Corn, J. L. Robinson, Art Lee and W. L. Royse. The song service was rendered by Mesdames Cobb, O'Neal, Ansley and Hager, Messrs Cornett, Allen and Hollis. Rev. Hamilton told how he met Mr. Bellamy on the street just the week before and he gave him instructions then how he wanted his funeral conducted. He seemed to realize that he would soon be going, for he said "Jesus is calling and I am going" and he added while the funeral services would be in the church, his soul would be with Jesus. Sunday when Rev. Hamilton went to see him, Mr. Bellamy said to him, "I am going home in the morning" and he passed away as he said he would. A large crowd was in attendance at the funeral, for Mr. Bellamy had lived here for fourteen years, and was well known as he had conducted a wagon yard in connection with a store on North Jefferson for a number of years. The interment was made in East Fairlawn cemetery, where the Masons held their beautiful burial services, conducted by L. B. Harris after which Rev. Hamilton made the closing prayer. Mr. Bellamy professed religion fifty-three years ago, and joined the Baptist church and had been a Mason over forty years. In early life he married his wife dying later. A son from that marriage living in the west was notified of his illness, but on account of having made a recent move, he did not get word in time to get here before the funeral and will not arrive until today. Thirteen years ago Mr. Bellamy was married to Miss Pinkie Drew, of Berlin, and one daughter, Duree was born of this union, who with her mother survives, also his father, brother Robert Bellamy and other relatives and many friends. His father who is about 105 years old was present at the funeral. The News Democrat joins in extending deepest sympathy to the bereaved ones.
