She died at her home in Canute June 22, 1929, at the age of 71 years, 2 months and 25 days. Funeral services were held at the Community church at Canute on Monday at 2:00 p.m. Rev. J. A. Tracy and Rev. W. T. Lackey officiated. Interment was made in Fairlawn cemetery. Gentry-Killough, funeral directors, had charge of arrangements. (4 Jul 1929, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Carolina Fisher Bird was born in Spillville, Winnishiek County, Iowa, March 27, 1858. She died June 22, 1929, at the age of 71 years, 2 months and 25 days. Those left to mourn her death are her four children, their husband wives and seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Carolina Fisher was married to Charles Bird February 12, 1877. To this union five children were born, Mary Tesmar of Elk City, William Tesmar (sic) of Hennessey, Lewis O. of Canute, Edward C. of Enid and Benjamin P., who died November 24, 1924. The husband and father died July 8, 1912. The early days of her life Caroline Bird confessed her faith in the Lord and from that time lived a real Christian life. She was always ready and willing to do her part in every way possible. She always enjoyed her many friends who will miss the comforts of Grandma Bird as she is known by everyone.
