(10 Mar 1930, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Word was received today of the death of Mrs. W. C. Black, 73, a former resident of this city, who died recently at her home in Delhi, Texas, after a prolonged illness. Mr. and Mrs. Black were pioneer residents of this community, and owned the Black Hotel here for a number of years. They moved to Delhi from this city in 1921, where they were living at the time of Mrs. Black's death. Mrs. Black was a member of the First Methodist Episcopal church. Funeral services were held in the home, by Rev. J. W. Rowherd and Rev. O. A. Hinkle. Surviving Mrs. Black are her husband, Mr. W. C. Black, and a son, Edgar Black, of Delhi, five daughters, Mrs. Effie Phillips of Quanah, Tex., Mrs. J. W. McGinnus, Mrs. Vennie Bonister, Miss Lucille Black, Mrs. W. B. Patterson, of Ft. Worth, Tex.; twenty-two grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Interment was made in the Delhi Cemetery.
