All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************ BLACK, RIDGON LEE ROY (14 Jul 1927, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, Ok): Rigdon Lee Roy Black was born at Brown, Oklahoma, June 10, 1895, and died at the Elk Sanitarium, Elk City, Oklahoma, July 9, 1927, at the age of 32 years, 29 days, after an illness of four weeks. He professed religion at Goree, Texas, in the summer of 1914, and joined the First Baptist Church at that place, where he has retained his membership. He enlisted in the United States army June 21, 1918, and served for 13 months, 9 months of which were spent overseas. He was married to Miss Mary Willis of Hastings, Oklahoma, December 26, 1920, to which union was born two sons, Lowell, age 4, and Odell, age 2. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife and two sons, mother and father, four sisters and four brothers, all of whom were present at the time of his death. Funeral services were held in the chapel of Geo. Grubitz & Son mortuary Sunday, July 10, at 4 p.m., Rev. Walker of Delhi, Oklahoma, officiating. Burial was made in Fairlawn Cemetery, Geo. R.
