W. Blackman (sic), died last Saturday morning at two o'clock after an illness of several months. Funeral services were at the home Sunday at 2 p.m., and burial was at the Ural cemetery. George Blackman of Woodward and Mrs. Francis Fenter of Amarillo, came Saturday for the funeral. (20 May 1921, Elk City newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): On Saturday morning at 2:30 God called home the spirit of Austin Blackmon, after an illness of many months duration. Austin had been confined to his room for some time, but bore his sufferings uncomplainingly, not wishing to bring unnecessary grief and burdens upon the hearts of his loved ones. When he realized his condition was beyond the help of earthly hands, he was able to trust in One who is able to give relief when human hands are helpless. Austin was a quiet, loving boy, and won the love and admiration of his friends and schoolmates by his sweet disposition and his thoughtfulness for others. He was 13 years, 10 months and 4 days of age. Funeral services were conducted at the home by Rev. Perkins, and the remains were laid to rest in the Ural Cemetery Sunday, May 15.
