It was in that county that she received her education and where she became a christian, for as a girl she was obedient unto Christ being baptized in the Mount Tabor Christian Church. It was also in the same county that she was united in marriage with Scott E. Blackmore on August 24, 1903. After twelve years of their married life or in December 1915 the family moved to the farm six miles east of Elk City, where they have resided continuously to the present time. Sister Blackmore was a member of the local First Christian Church and as far as her circumstances permitted was faithful and loyal to Christ and the church. Her highest ambition was that her family should be thoroughly Christian. Into the Blackmore family there were born nine children: two girls and seven boys; the girls are Irene, who is now Mrs. R. E. Paxon of Amarillo, Texas, and Dorothy Jean. The boys are Carl, Earl, Harold, S. R., Chas., Penn, S. C. Jr., and Billy Dean who preceeded his mother to the glory world early last February. From the time of the passing of the little one the health of Sister Blackmore has gradually failed. About the middle of September an operation was performed for the removal of goiter. The shock was too great for her frail constitution so that yesterday morning, October 13 at 1:50 while her friends were asleep, with a few of her dear ones near her she peaceably slipped away to spend eternity with her Savior, after having spent 41 years, 10 months and nine days upon this earth. Sister Blackmore was part of a family of six children. Her father and two brothers have gone ahead into the great beyond. Sister Blackmore was first a Christian, then a faithful and true wife, a loving, sympathetic mother, and a kind, helpful neighbor. She will be sorely missed by her husband and her children; her mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Smart, brother, S. R. Smart; and her two sisters Mrs. C. H. Eastwood, these three residing in Callaway County, Mo., and Mrs. B. A. Renolds, of Ellington, Mo.
