All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ************************************************ BLAKEMORE, CHARLES FRANKLIN (11 Jan 1933, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Funeral services were to be conducted at 3 o'clock this afternoon for Charles Franklin Blakemore, 92 years old, Civil War veteran, and pioneer resident of this section, who died late Tuesday at his home six miles southwest of Canute after a week's illness. Funeral services were held at the home with burial in the Ural cemetery, Rev. L. D. Hawkins officiating. Mr. Blakemore was born January 12, 1840, in Lee county, Virginia, lacking but two days reaching his ninety-third birthday. In Army 4 Years. He served in the army four years during the Civil war and moved to western Oklahoma in 1877 where he was married to Alice Thompson. They moved to this section in 18?? (part of year cut off). He was a member of the Methodist Spiscopal (sic) church, South, and of Odd Fellows lodge. Widow Survives. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Alice Blakemore, two sons and four daughters. Sons are J. B. and Charles Blakemore, both of Canute. Daughters, Mrs. Beulah Rayfield of Canute, Mrs. Dencia Maurin of California, Mrs. Gloria Lowery, Wichita Falls, Texas, and Mrs. Olie Rigsby, California. Grubitz & Son funeral directors are in charge of arrangements. He was born January 12, 1840, Lee County, Virginia. He was a member of the Methodist church South, and a member of the Odd Fellows lodge. He is survived by the widow, Mrs. Alice Blakemore, and two sons and four daughters. The sons are J. B. and Charles Blakemore, Jr., and daughters, Mrs. Beulah Rayfield, Mrs. Dencia Maurin of California, Mrs. Glory Lowery, Wichita Falls, Texas and Mrs. Olie Rigsby of California. Funeral services were held at the home, conducted by Rev. L. D.
