August 27, 1910. In a little snow white casket, A cherished plant now lies, More beautiful than lillies in a basket, But he's gone to bloom in yonder skyes. He was transplanted oh! so tenderly, As if we would not care, Without even a glance at his mother Who held him an idol, dear. Oh! Death, why chasten me? With grief, it seems I cannot bear. Still hope lingers, I pray to see My Babe, and dwell with him o'er there. This life is not all in vain, It is just a fleeting day; Filled with trouble and anguish pain, Not a pleasant place forever to stay. Death is to call us to a place, In a happy beautiful land. If we live righteous we shall stand With God and his angels in that land. Dear parents, your babe is only a little cherub, Gone to dwell with the holy band above. You now have a loving little tie, To prepare to meet in the sweet bye and bye. May God's blessings rest upon you is my prayer. Mrs. Clara Carpenter, Canute, Oklahoma.
