E. HERRING DIES. Our people were shocked Saturday to learn that Mrs. Flossie Herring Bonner had died at her home in Hammon. She was sick only a short time and was not thought to be serious until Saturday morning, when pneumonia set in. That afternoon about four o'clock she passed away. Her father, F. E. Herring was in Elk City and reached his daughter's bedside before she passed away. Her mother and sisters were at Oklahoma City and were unable to reach Hammon until after Mrs. Bonner's death. The body was brought to Elk City Sunday and taken to A. L. Taylor's home. On account of the storm, burial services were postponed until Wednesday, Christmas day, at 2:30 o'clock. The deceased had lived in Elk City from childhood and was married to Johny (sic) Mack Bonner last year, going to Hammon to make her home. "Queenie" as she was called by her friends was known to all our people and her death brings much sorrow to her loved ones and friends. The deep sympathy expressed by every one, old and young, shows the great love and respect in which Mrs. Bonner was held by our people. (2 Jan 1919, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Mrs. Flossie Herring Bonner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Herring of Oklahoma City, was born in Western Oklahoma and lived in this section of the state most of her life. She was converted to Christ during the big revival conducted by Rev. Locket Adair in Elk City some two years ago. She was united in marriage to John Bonner of Cheyenne, Okla., on December 6, 1916, and moved to Hammon, Okla. where they resided until she passed away from this to her eternal reward December 21, 1918. She was an affectionate wife and beloved by all who knew her. She leaves husband, father, mother, two sisters and a brother, with a host of friends to mourn her loss. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. A. Possy at the home of A. L. Taylor, 604 West Broadway, December 25th, 1918, at four p.m. After the brief services she was taken to her last resting place in the Fairlawn cemetery, to await the coming of our Lord. The grave was covered with beautiful flowers from friends far and near.
