Funeral services were held at the North Methodist Church April 7, at 2 p.m. Interment in Fairlawn Cemetery. Gentry-Killough in charge. (12 Apr 1928, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Albert R. Boomer, eldest son of Orris and Lucinda Boomer, was born September 19, 1845, at Garden Prairie, MacHenry county, Ill., died at his home in Elk City, April 5, 1928. Age 82 years, 6 (sic) months and 16 days. He was united in marriage to Rhoda Arena Wheeler, December 31, 1868. To this union six children were born. His wife and three children preceeded him in death. The children living are Edna L. Boomer, Elk City; Charles Boomer, Weatherford, Texas, and George Boomer, Groom. Mr. Boomer and family moved from Illinois to a farm near Laclede, Mo., in 1882, and lived in one neighborhood 25 years. In 1907 Mr. Boomer, his wife, daughter Edna, and two sons, Charles and George, moved to a farm six miles north of Elk City. In 1918 he moved to Elk City. The writer has intimately known him for many years, and known him to have been a man of many noble virtues, a good neighbor, always willing to help the poor and minister to the distressed. Since Xmas, "Grandpa," as neighbors called him, has gradually been going down the valley of a finished life. Previous to his death, he often talked to Edna of the home beyond the clouds; what he wished she would do and how he appreciated her giving her life to him and "mother." To Charles and George, he bade them live honest, useful lives; pay their debts, and meet him in heaven; to the boys' wives, he requested they be good to Edna for she had been good to him. Words fail to tell of his intense suffering the last week of his life here. It gives us a faint conception of his suffering when we realize it took from four to six to hold him on the bed, loved ones and friends, powerless to alleviate his suffering. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church, Rev. Cummings officiating. Pall Bearers were his grandson, Bert Boomer, and nephews, Virgil, Willie, Albert, Carl and Leonard Boomer, sons of Grant Boomer. Six of his friends near his age acted as honorary pall bearers. Those left to mourn his loss are his daughter, Edna Boomer of Elk City; sons, Charles Boomer of Weatherford, and George Boomer of Groom, Texas; two grandsons, Bert and Lennie Boomer; two granddaughters, Mrs. Bloyce Deininger of Laclede, Mo., and Eva Boomer; one great granddaughter, Shirly Jo Beininger of Laclede, Mo.; four sisters and three brothers, a host of friends and neighbors. A brother, Grant Boomer and a sister, Mrs. Nora Blackmore, were present during his last sickness and death. In reading this over, have noticed ommission (sic) of stating the fact that Grandpa was converted many years ago, acknowledging his Savior before men and was ready when the final summons came. O blessed thought, and may all who read this notice be as fully prepared as this deceased was, is the prayer of one who knew and loved a friend.
