All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************ BOOMER, LYMON WELLINGTON (1 Aug 1929, Elk City newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Lyman (sic) W. Boomer, second son of Oris and Lucinda Boomer was born July 27, 1851, at Marengo, Illinois and departed this life at his home in Elk City, Oklahoma, on July 29, 1929. Age seventy-eight years and two days. At an early age he moved with his parents from Illinois to Missouri, where he grew to manhood. He was married to Lenora F. Weatherly, December 25, 1887, at Laclede, Missouri. They moved to Nebraska in 1893 where they lived for several years. From Nebraska the family moved and lived in the following states: Oklahoma, California, Florida and Arkansas, coming back to Oklahoma last December. Mr. Boomer has been in declining health for some time but on the Fourth of July he was stricken much worse. He told his loved ones he could not recover and during the days that followed his suffering was so intense that friends and loved ones were willing to see him taken home. Mr. Boomer was never affiliated with any church but was reared in a Methodist home, and lived and adhered to the teachings of Christ. He left friends in every community where he lived and his children say that he was an affectionate Father. He leaves an aged companion, one son, Edward and daughter, Gladys; a granddaughter, Gloria Levern, a brother, Grant Boomer and a sister, Mrs. Scott Blackmore, all of Elk City. Three sisters in Missouri and a brother in California, besides a host of other relatives and friends who are left to mourn his going. Funeral services were held at the First Methodist church July 30, at 2 P.M. Rev. E. C. Webb of the Broadway Methodist Church, officiating. Interment in Fairlawn cemetery. Gentry-Killough in charge.
