Sloan Called by Death of Dr. J. A. Bowling, Age 73. F. M. Sloan, of west of the city, departed yesterday for Alva, to which place he was called by the death of his brother-in-law, Dr. J. A. Bowling, 73, who passed away Thursday morning at 2 o'clock. Dr. Bowling had been ill for about six weeks of an infection, which baffled nearly a dozen physicians who were called into the case. The nature of the infection, which produced Dr. Bowling's death, never was ascertained. Dr. Bowling had practiced medicine in Alva for approximately 30 years. He was a well-known and highly respected citizen of that community and had rendered a great service there. For a number of years he served as surgeon for the Santa Fe railroad. Dr. Bowling had been a member of the Presbyterian church for 45 years. Surviving is the widow and two children, Mrs. Mary Wagner, of Waynoka, and Lloyd, an electrician, of Alva. Funeral services were to be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
