Burial was at Erick Cemetery, Erick, Beckham County, Oklahoma under the direction of Fatheree-Albert Funeral Home. Bucky Donald Boyd was born August 8, 1959 in Erick, to Lavonne and Buck Boyd and died Friday February 22, 2002 in Tulsa at the age of 42. Bucky Don grew up in Erick and graduated from Erick High School in 1977. He continued his education at Panhandle State University in Goodwell, and Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford. He later returned to Erick and worked in the oilfield. He was married to Donna Simpson at Wheeler, Texas on March 14, 1988. They made their home in Erick and he helped his parents with their farming operation and continued to work in the oilfield. Bucky Don was very involved in the community where he was elected Mayor of Erick and later served as a Council member. He also served on the Alumni Committee, Erick Volunteer Ambulance Service and coached for the Erick Little League for several years. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Amos and Sara Boyd. Surviv ors include his wife, Donna of the home; his parents Buck aand Lavonne Boyd of Erick; four children, Jeremy Simpson, Johnny Boyd, Amos Shane Boyd, Macy Boyd all of the home; his maternal grandparents Bill and Dorothy Childress of Bristow; his mother and father-in-law, Linda and G.C. Simpson of Carter; his brothers-in-law, Bobby Simpson, Roger Lee Simpson both of Carter and one granddaughter. The Elk City Daily News, Elk City, OK 25-Feb-2002
