He was a charter member of the I.O.O.F. of Elk City. (27 Apr 1924, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): IN MEMORIAM. We, your committee, beg to submit the following resolutions as follows: Once again death hath summoned a Brother Odd Fellow, Brother E. C. Branscom, of Durham, Oklahoma, and the golden gateway of the Eternal City has opened to welcome him to his home. He has completed his work, in the ministering to the wants of the afflicted, in shedding light into darkened souls and in bringing joy into the places of misery, and as his reward has received the plaudit "well done" from the Supreme Master. And whereas, the all wise and merciful master of the Universe has called our beloved brother home, and he having been a true and faithful member of our beloved Order, having joined Elk City Lodge No. 211, I.O.O.F. of Elk City, Oklahoma, about the year 1901, being one of the charter members of this Lodge, during his lifetime he was always ready and willing and ready to exemplify the fraternal spirit of our Order, by close attendance. Brother Branscom was born and reared in Iowa, until he was of the age 8 years, then moved with his parents to the State of Kansas, where he lived until manhood, when about 18 or 19 years of age, he united with the Church of Christ, of which he was a member at the time of his death, when at the age of 23 years, he was married to Miss Malinda Money, to which union were born two children, Mrs. Jacob Bauchman, of Durham, Oklahoma, and A. E. Branscom of Colorado, of which both with their companions, were at his bedside during his last illness and death. He was always a good loving companion and father, he was very patient during his sickness, and always placing his trust in his Heavenly Father.
