The remains were brought to Elk City Friday and at three o'clock burial services were held at the cemetery conducted by Rev. Trevette and Dr. Jester. Mr. Brewer has been failing since the middle of June, suffering from leakage of the heart. He recovered somewhat, but on the 11th of August took seriously ill, growing gradually weaker until his death. Mr. Brewer was married to Miss Lovedy Armstrong, thirty-two years ago, who survives, also eight children, Mrs. May Locke, Herbert, Watts, Murry, Katie, Jewette, Maude and Clyde. A little daughter died a few years ago when the family lived at Elk City. Four brothers and two sisters remain from a family of eight, S. P. Brewer, Browsboro, Texas; A. J. Brewer, Mineral Wells, Texas; J. T. Brewer, Edom, Texas; M. J. Brewer, Oran, Texas; Mrs. W. T. Boyd, and Mrs. J. H. Patterson, of Edom Texas. A sister died a year or so ago. The parents died in 1910, in twelve days of each other. They had lived together over fifty years with not a death in the family. For years Mr. Brewer lived in Tex., where he had the intenerant relation with the M.E. Church South. He was ordained Elder and held papers of ordination until his death. For years Mr. Brewer and Dr. Jester were friends and co-workers in the church work here. In speaking of the deceased, Dr. Jester said: "Mr. Brewer was a good man and his christianity was beyond question and as sincere in friendship as any man I ever met. He was true to his conscientious conceptions of right on everything; neither bribery or fear would cause him to swerve." Mr. Brewer rejoiced that his two sons, Herbert and Watts had returned from the army. The sympathy of the News-Democrat is extended with that of their many friends to the bereaved one.
