He was a native of Texas, born in McCullough county May 22, 1857. He spent his boyhood in Colorado, was a pioneer stockman in Eastern Oklahoma, witnessed the opening of Chickasha as a station, was a charter member of the Chickasha Christian church more than thirty years ago. He was a life member of the K. of P. and the I.O.O.F., and in good standing with the Elks and Rebekahs. Mr. Brown was kind-hearted company - a successful business man with his fellow men. He moved to a farm south of Elk City in 1911 and to Elk City two years ago. He knew the end was near and had made preparations. His mother died one year ago and he mourned her loss greatly. Those left to cherish his memory are many dear friends and his wife, daughter, Marie, and two step-children, Ruby and Alonzo, one sister in Oklahoma City and two nephews.
