(29 Aug 1930, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): OLD VETERAN BURIED HERE. Final Rites Are Read at City Cemetery for Carnegie Man. A military funeral was conducted for H. C. Bunch, 88, Civil war veteran of Carnegie, at the Fairlawn Cemetery here at 10 o'clock this morning. Rev. T. N. Weeks, pastor of the First Christian church of Sayre, officiated. The military service was in charge of the Elk City American Legion post, directed by Will Park, of Carpenter. Six Legionnaires of Carnegie acted as pall bearers. Following a volley of shots by a firing squad, taps were blown by Ray Miller, city buglist. Mr. Bunch is an uncle of Mrs. R. W. Crites of Sayre. He died at the home of his niece, Mrs. C. Wildman, near Carnegie and according to a request was buried beside his brother in the Fairlawn cemetery here. Mr. Bunch was never married. For 30 years he was employed at Fort Reno, government post. He was born in 1842 in Tennessee. The Legionnaires of the city post participating in the service were: Guy Claybourn, Adrian Wolf, H. C. Calmes, Howard Hess, Roy Sloan, Jack Henson, Jack Edlen, Lee Cates, Henry Tyler, Gene Grubitz, E. A. Christopher, Sylvester Whited and Ben Guy of Grimes.
