(25 Apr 1929, Elk City Newspaper, Elk City, Beckham Co, OK): Funeral services were held at the First Baptist church Thursday at 2:30 for A. Burke, tailor, who died at his home in Elk City, April 17, 1929, at the age of 68 (sic) years, 8 months and 16 days. Mr. Burke was well known in Elk City, having been a tailor here for quite a number of years and maintaining an establishment above the former location of the Elk City Packing company. He had apparently been in good health during the year and his death came as a complete shock to his friends and acquaintances in the downtown business district. Rev. H. W. Shirley officiated at the funeral services and interment was made at Fairlawn cemetery. He was born July 21, 1870 in Lamont, Pettis county, Mo. He leaves behind to mourn his loss three sisters, Mrs. Hattie Patterson, of Elk City, Mrs. C. A. Brown of Sedalia, Mo., and Mrs. W. C. Watkins of Hedley, Texas. His father, J. R. Burke and three brothers Wade, George and John preceded him in death. He was converted when 19 years of age and joined the Baptist Missionary church. He has since then lived true to his Lord. Richard A. Burke was born in Missouri, July 21, 1870. He died in Elk City, April 17, 1929, at the age of 58 years, 8 months and 16 days. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church April 18, at 2:30 p.m., Rev. H. W. Shirley officiating. Interment was made in Fairlawn cemetery.
