The following about the death of the mother of Mrs. Lillie Eggers, Mrs. Lydia Smith was published in the Spearman, Texas, paper: Obituary. Lydia Francis Smith was born in Campbell county, Georgia, on June 1, 1840; died at Spearman, Texas, on Friday, August 12, 1921, at 8 a.m., aged 81 years, 2 months and 11 days. At the age of 20 Lydia Francis Smith was married to W. A. Burran, to whom she was a faithful wife and companion for exactly 61 years. They came to Texas in 1876, locating in Johnson county, where they resided for 21 years. From Johnson county they went to Oklahoma, resided there a few years and came back to Texas about 12 years ago, locating at old Ochiltree. They came to Spearman in the spring of 1920. Mr. and Mrs. Burran have been residents of Texas for over 30 years. Mrs. Burran joined the Baptist church in 1856 and for 65 years was a consistent member of that organization. Her Bible was her daily companion. Mr. and Mrs. Burran were the parents of nine children, seven of whom are living: Jefferson and Willie Burran are dead; Robt. E. Burran, Spearman; A. S. Burran, Darrouzette, Texas; Mrs. Kate Ferguson, Alberquerque (sic), New Mexico; Mrs. Eva Wilbanks, Spearman; Mrs. Lillie Eggers, Elk City, Oklahoma; Mrs. Georgia Griffis, Bishop, Oklahoma; and Mrs. Betty Barbour at Spearman. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Hand, pastor of the Baptist church at Channing, and interment was held in Hansford cemetery on Saturday afternoon, August 13, 1921. Many old time friends came from Perryton and Ochiltree to attend the funeral. The pall-bearers were: Fred Wilbanks, Edward Burran, Berlin Barbour, Gilbert Wilbanks, Herman Barbour and Robert Wilbanks, all grandsons of the deceased.
